Boulder, Colorado

The "natural phenomena" section of our trip begins here!

Yesterday we drove up into the Rocky Mountain National Park.  Visibility was good and we could clearly see the mountains as we drove towards them.  The scenery got better and better as we ascended.  The road goes up to over 12,000 feet and there are lots of trails where you can park and take a walk.  We parked at a spot called Bear Lake and walked to a couple of other lakes - Nymph Lake and Dream Lake.  It was quite busy but well worth the walk.  There was still lots of snow on the slopes of the mountains and the temperature dropped to the upper 50 degrees F (from the lower 90s in Boulder).  It was a beautiful day out.  We drove all the way through the park and back round to Boulder.

Today we had a relaxing time in Boulder.  A bit of shopping, stocking up for the next few days.  I decided to get my hair cut so I looked at the Yellow Pages and found a barber's shop on Pearl Street.  At one end of Pearl Street is a pedestrianised shopping area.  Sue wanted to look round the shops so I arranged to meet her an hour later.  The barber's address was 2970 Pearl Street.  The shopping area started at 1400.  I walked for 25 minutes and reached 2200 before I turned round and walked back.  So much for the haircut!

Tomorrow we're off to Colorado Springs, about 100 miles south.  We're hoping to go to the summit of Pike's Peak on the cog railway.

Sorry we haven't been on for a while. I was away and now we're up in the North of Scotland. I'd forgotten how hard it is with new babies!
It sounds like you're having a great time visiting places of legend and we're looking forward to the photos as long as you've had your haircut and clothes washed by then!
