Brisbane

We arrived in Brisbane on Monday afternoon after a 4 hour flight from Perth. The temperture here is on average 5 or 6 degrees higher and it is much more humid. John picked us up at the airport and drove us to his house where we renewed our acquaintance with Snooky, William and Joanna. It's 5 years since we last saw them so William and Joanna didn't remember us.

On Wednesday Sue and I went into Brisbane on the train. This is another beautiful Australian city sited on a wide meandering river. We just strolled round the place in the sunshine taking in the sights. We took one of the Cat water ferries which zigzag their way up and down the river and stayed on it for more than an hour. We also went on the Brisbane big wheel (we're getting addicted to these things) for a bird's eye view of the city.

Today John took us up into the Glass House Mountains (so called because when Captain Cook first saw them from the sea they reminded him of the glassworks in his native Yorkshire) where we went for a walk through a rainforest nature reserve. We even saw some pademelons, which are very small wallabies that live in the forest.

Every day we something we haven't seen before!

Sorry we keep missing your phone calls! Hopefully we'll be around for the next one. Glad to see you are having such a good time. We are all ok except Thomas has quite a bad cold but is on the mend. Enjoy the rest of your trip & see you soon

Hi Keith,

Did Sue try to explain the Wave? Great picture, Sue. We get more envious by the Blog. It looks like such a great place.

The Captain Cook story sounds a bit iffy unless he needed glasses (no pun intended.)I'm thinking, size-wise, it's kangaroo, wallaby, pandemellon and eventually flea, but I'm willing to be corrected on my 'jumper' theory.
Trying to keep the memory alive,
Pete and Cath McG
