The Wine Tasting Tour

This was wine tasting Aussie style; four wineries and 40 (yes 40) wines to taste. Sue declined the reds but I tasted everything. In addition the tour included a chocolate factory and a cheese factory. We were in a mini-bus with a personal trainer from Cambridge (“I don’t like red wine but I’m hoping to get to like it”) and his Aussie girlfriend, a newly married Aussie lawyer with her English husband and her garrulous Scottish mother-in-law (“What’s the alcohol content of this wine?”), a dour Swiss couple from Zurich (“This does not taste like Swiss cheese”) and four Aussies who were almost comatose because they were on the whole day tour and God knows how many wines they’d tasted in the morning. The tour driver was Kevin (“Keep together or we’ll not get through it all”). As the tour went on it got more and more raucous as everyone became less and less inhibited. By the end of it we were all great friends and were wishing one another best wishes for the rest of our lives. Not an experience one should indulge in too often!
